An Introduction to Reflex Social Services

Hello there,

We are Reflex Social Services.

We are a not-for-profit, secular, social health charity working to help people throughout the communities of the Hunter Valley, Newcastle, and the Central Coast.

Most of us are only a single event away from being stuck, scared, and isolated from the people who support us.

Reflex Social Services provides mobile trauma counselling and support for people who need it.

We currently provide these services to people with disabilities, and people who are struggling with employment. Right now, we are planting the seeds for a rapid-response, mobile trauma counselling team to work closely with emergency services throughout Newcastle and the Hunter Valley.

We are founded by people who have witnessed the extent of the gaps in the Australian Mental Health and Welfare systems, some of which are most evident in our own home region.

With our expertise in early intervention, emergency mental and social health techniques, and health systems, we are relentlessly researching and honing new approaches and methods based upon the best information that global research has to offer.

Taking the lead from some of the Scandinavian nations and Canada, whose techniques and systems are 20 to 30 years ahead of our own, we have worked hard to create new approaches to the care of people in our community that push beyond mental health into social health.

We have worked for four years in conjunction with other community organisations throughout the welfare, employment and disability sectors, including work within the fledgling NDIS.

We are now reaching out to the public to show you our intent, share our experience, support our community, and seek assistance in crafting an independent, stand alone organisation that is even more capable in rapid response, crisis management and social health innovation.

We look forward to showing you what we can do.

If you’d like to support our efforts, you can follow us on facebookinstagram, and twitter for our latest information about mental health, our society, and effectively caring for yourself and others.
