Get Involved

You don't need to be a therapist to help others.
Louder Than Words is where action meets advocacy, and there’s a place for you here. Whether you’ve got time, skills, money, or just a loud voice and a big heart, there's so many ways you can make a difference.

Volunteer with Reflex

We have so much work to do, and not enough hands to do it. From admin support to event help to creative projects, we need volunteers who care about mental health, community, and doing things differently.

Donate

Your dollars don’t disappear into a void. They become a crisis session for someone who needs it.
They keep our rapid response teams moving.
Waiting should not be a part of the recovery process.

Share and Amplify

If you’ve ever screamed “WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS?”
Guess what? We are.
We need your voice too.
Share our articles, tag your mates, make some noise.
Loud voices save lives.
We're always looking for new voices

Write for us

Got something to say about trauma, recovery, community or how we build something better?

Louder Than Words is powered by contributors who don’t just comment on the world, they help change it. We’re here for sharp takes, lived experience, community wisdom, and research that makes an impact. Whether you're a first-time writer or a seasoned voice, if your words spark action or make someone feel seen, we want to hear from you.

We're especially keen on pieces that break things down clearly, call things out bravely, or lift up stories that don’t get enough airtime.

Think: guides for surviving the aftermath, reflections on collective care, challenges to broken systems, or tools for turning pain into power.

Pitch your piece to hello@reflex.org.au

We publish articles, guides, reflections, and resources that sit at the intersection of trauma, community care, and systemic change.
Your piece doesn’t have to be polished or academic, but it does need to feel real.

We’re here for:

  • Lived experience told with courage and clarity

  • Practical guides that help people support themselves or others

  • Calls to action that both inspire and offer solutions

  • Critical takes on mental health, justice, care, and access

  • First-person storytelling that makes people feel seen

  • Toolkits, listicles, how-to’s, and visual explainers are all welcome

We’re not here for:

  • Trauma porn

  • Inspo Porn

  • Therapy-speak with no teeth

  • Passive “awareness” pieces with no direction

Anyone. Seriously. If your voice is rooted in care, justice, and community, you’re welcome here. No publishing credits or fancy titles needed.
We especially encourage submissions from people with lived experience of trauma, and perspectives from writers who are excluded, unheard, or misrepresented in current discourse.

Email us at hello@reflex.org.au with:

A short bio (1-2 lines is fine—we don’t need a resumé)

A pitch or draft (you don’t need to have it all figured out, we’re happy to workshop it)

A few lines about why you want to write this piece, or who it’s for

If we love it, we’ll reach out to chat next steps. If it’s not a fit, we’ll let you know. Either way, we value your voice.

Right now, Louder Than Words is a labour of love, built by a small team trying to make noise where it counts. We don’t often have the budget to pay contributors, but we’re working on changing that and we’ll always be upfront about what we can offer.

We won’t ask you to mine your trauma for free. What we’re looking for is thought, insight, and perspective, shared on your terms. If you choose to write with us, we’ll treat your work with respect, amplify it across our platforms, and credit you however you want.

We also know that not everyone can afford to work unpaid. If an honorarium would make it possible for you to contribute, let us know when you pitch. We’ll always be honest about what we can offer, and we’ll never ask you to justify your worth.
